My Darling Cecilia
If you’re reading this, then I’ve died . . .
Imagine your husband wrote you a letter, to be opened after his death. Imagine, too, that the letter contains his deepest, darkest secret – something so terrible it would destroy not just the life you built together, but the lives of others too. Imagine, then, that you stumble across that letter while your husband is still very much alive . . .
Cecilia Fitzpatrick achieved it all – she’s an incredibly successful business woman, a pillar of her small community and a devoted wife and mother. Her life is as orderly and spotless as her home. But that letter is about to change everything, and not just for her: Rachel and Tess barely know Cecilia – or each other – but they too are about to feel the earth-shattering repercussions of her husband’s devastating secret.
I’ve picked this book as one of the books for a reading challenge I’m doing this year. Book No. 3 – A book you received as a gift.
This book was one of my secret Santa presents last Christmas, so it definitely fits this category.
I can’t say how often I’ve seen this book mentioned since it came out. Liane Moriarty is also a name that pops up often and I must admit, I have no idea what took me so long to finally read a book by her. I’m so glad I’ve chosen this one to be the first!
I’m a huge fan of domestic novels/thrillers so this was a book I threw myself in with a full force and read so fast. The secret is real! We will find out secret pretty soon in the novel but it’s how family deals with it, is what is important. And don’t get me even started on all the twists that follow.
Cecilia’s life is turned upside down one day when she finds a letter that should have disappeared a long time ago. It’s not something you will see coming and you will feel just as shocked as Cecilia. She stands on the crossroads when she needs to make a decision, reveal her husband’s secret and lose everything she has worked so hard on building or pretend nothing has happened, which is nearly impossible in small community she lives in. She feels everyone knows, she feels certain people need to know the truth. She is so torn and you will be with her. Is her family and their future going to be enough for Cecilia to keep this secret to herself? Or will admitting the past help her relieve the guilt that has been eating her alive?
Wow, wow, wow. Great book I straight away passed onto one of my friends as soon as i finished it. I’ve now downloaded other books by Liane Moriarty onto my kindle, ready to be read.
I’m adding that to my TBR list! 🤩

She is one of my favourite authors – I think her best book so far might be Big Little lies.

I know this author is popular, but I haven’t yet picked up a book by her. Perhaps I will soon.
